Types of dental crowns
Today there are several types of dental crowns, made of different materials such as porcelain, zirconium, metal and resin. Each type of crown may be necessary in different cases, so there are different types of dental crowns depending the situation.
Porcelain Crown
As its name indicates is made of porcelain and is one of the most used because of its similarity with the color of natural teeth, they are perfect when the teeth are very damaged, as they provide great resistance. Their cost is between 400 and 850 euros.
Zicronium Crown
is also a very similar material to the natural colour of the tooth, being aesthetically the best option. They are recommended for the frontal teeth and not for the molars, since they are not as resistant. Their price is between 350 and 500 euros.
Resin Crown
This is a temporary and economic option, usually your dentist will recommend it to protect the tooth while you decide on a more durable and resistant cover. Its price is around 40 euros.
Metal Crown
This dental crowns are definitely the least aesthetic option, since being silver or gold, they are totally visible when you smile. A great advantage is that they are the most durable, with a lifetime endurance. Their price is around 70 euros.
It is very important that you consider that when having any type of dental crown in your mouth it is essential to maintain a good dental hygiene, since it is usually thought that by not being a natural tooth there is no risk. Clean your mouth three times per day, use dental floss, as well as mouthwash and most imortant of all: visit your dentist regularly to keep your teeth and crowns in a perfect state.
